Re: Please, just treat me normally.

I chanced upon Joseph's blog which he wrote abt "Please, just treat me normally" when I was surfing Tomorrow.sg. He ( Singaporean) is annoyed that just because he is deaf, he has drawn special attention from people...

Republished "What's Wrong with Singapore"

My deaf friend, Clement is very disgruntled with the government that there is no protection law for the deaf Singaporeans. He poured out his grievances on his blog and cried "What's Wrong with Singapore".

I read his article a few times, and I find his article very inspiring and well-writen and well-expressed. Go and read his blog.

Cheap but Fake and Lousy Printing Ink

The quality rendered by the cheap but fake printing ink is so thin that you can barely read out the poorly-printed words on paper, even under the super and clear lightning. The printed words look more like watermarks instead.

A few days ago, my sister bought fake printing ink from her school. That lousy ink gave us problems. Where are the words on paper? Practically, there was nothing on paper at all. We test-printed it many times, and the results remained the same on paper.

Wordless Paper. *Head shaking in sigh*

Finally after many attempts, we saw the words on it. But the words inked in black looked very weak and dull. It looks more like watermarks instead.

It is not worthy to compromise the quality over a few dollars.

Snap balls.Twist Balls.Speed Balls.

Balls under the laptop? What is that? Precisely, it is "cushions" to protect ur laptop from rubbing against the surface resulting in friction.

It serves the purpose of creating cool ventilation under the laptop. It is not "healthy" for the laptop if there is too much hot air trapped under the base of the laptop if not for the snapballs.

Yesterday, my Black Chocolate sister got me these snapballs from her local uni. At $13.90, much cheaper than $49 balls advertised on Vpost.

She said that sometimes someone will come to her school and hawks cheap and false printing ink. Geez! It sounds as if her school is a selling-and-buying-market for tech gadgets.....Maybe her school sells cheap and fake mobile phone too?

No lah, I dun think so.

Stinky Sandals

Blame on dog poo!!! I was in a rush then. I smelt so foul. I thought that it was from somewhere. After reaching my destination, I realised to my horror that there was actually dog poo on my sandal. Arrghhh!!! I dun know that I stepped on it. But my friend thinks that I deliberately stepped on it. Ridiculous!

Gingham + Lace

Hey, I got this lovely dress from Serangoon Garden market near my home this morning.

Saw the dress hanging prominently at the shop. Fell in love with it at the first sight. I went in and bargained with the lady owner for discount off the original price, $39.

No. You can get these sale items from this rack.

The other rack, she pointed to me, is for non-sale items.

Oh...as well....I resigned myself to $39.

Amazedly, she charged me $35 after I paid $50.

This dress will make wonderful wear for picnic outing. Anyone can organise the picnic at Botanic Gardens?

Curtin Covocation 2003

As I am looking for something on my zip disk, I saw some photos being stored there. Out of curiosity, I clicked on this photo.

Popped the photo of me shaking hands with some dean. It brought a smile on my face and thought that I share the photo with you.

Speaking abt the convocation, I find no meaning in attending this function. Every semester, the deans and lecturers drag their feets to hall and sit there. The VIP make crappy and meaningless speech laced with bullshit words. The lecturers and deans clap their hands motionlessly. After receiving the degree, the graduate will sneak out of the hall without waiting for the convocation to finish.

One good thing came out of this convocation - refreshments after that. They served sushi, sandwiches and soft drinks. I saw Aussie graduates packing sandwiches and take them home. I am surprised cos I thought that Aussies are not kaisu like Singaporeans.

I confessed that I also packed the sandwiches too for breakfast the next day.

Beauty Junkie

My poor dressing table is cluttered with so many beauty junkies which I have accumulated over the past few years. Garnier. Clinqiue. ZA. Biotherm. This photo is not enough to show u my products. I still have other a lot of products. Ulay. Lanolin. Lanolin is sheep's oil good for skin. Made in Australia. I tried it but it gave me freaking outbreak. Left it on table and never use it. What a waste of sheep's oil.

Since my return from Land of Gold Mine ( Australia is known for its gold mining.) a few years, my skin had became acne-prone. From time to time, I would buy beauty products, discover that it is not efficient and dump it on my table.

Anyway, I am getting older and it is important to take care of my skin. Recently, I bought ZA White Essence Mask. I heard raves that ZA whitening products are very good for lightening up the ance scars and blemishes. I suffer from acne, marking my face with light-brownish scars after zits burst.

I am impressed with the super-fast results of ZA White Essence Mask. After each application, I would wake up and see the glowing and fair Snow Queen which is me on my mirror. The blemishes become lighter. Not only that, it is so cooling when you lay out the sheet on ur face. U will feel as if u are pampered.

Good stuff and worth buying ZA White Essence Mask on budget if you cannot afford SK-II whitening mask.

My counsellor, supporter, coach

Lately, I have been travelling up and down on emotional and unstable roller-coaster. Literally erupted into sobs. Morphed into a smile. Then optimism chased away by dark and gloomy clouds. Happy. Sad. Happy. Sad. Father found out and came over to lend me his supporting ears. Listened to my woes. Counselled me.

Found out that I was crying. Asked me why. I was scared to fail all subjects. He told me to do my best. Trust God. I was in Sec 3 then.

Coached me on how to improve my terrible-then English. Wrote me emails with his witty and brilliant English so that I can learn from him. Encouraged me to read Reader's Digest as its writing style is very concise and easy to digest. Till now, I am no able to write witty as him.

Yet, countless times, I have hurt him. Rebelled against him many times. Feeling very ashamed.

Ice-cream Man

Last Sun, I read Sunday Plus abt so many ice-cream men sprouting all over Orchard Road. Selling their block of ice-cream sandwiched between 2 wafer biscuits for $1. Cheap. They lamented that nowadays competition has became tougher, and their sales fell.

It reminded me of my kid days when I would wait eagerly for ice-cream man at home. He would peddle his ice-cream on his bicycle along the houses in my private housing estate. It was hard work. He was very old man and had to cycle from house to house under the hot sun. I respect him. I reminded my mom to watch out for him and asked her anxiously and non-stop if she can hear his honk. At the sound of his honk, I would run out of my house and stop him and buy from him.

Another reminiscence - As a little girl, when I stayed at my grandma's house for holidays in Penang, my cousins and I would watch out for snacks man hawking his snacks on his motorcycle. He was Indian man. We ran down the hill ( my grandma's house was situated on a hill.) and stopped him. Opened the snack box perched on his motorcycle. Not only snacks for kids, he hawks bread too - plain and coloured. My neighbours would walk out of their houses and buy bread from him.

But now, the snack man is no longer pedding snacks and bread. The ice-cream man was gone too. Instead of waiting for him at home, I have to walk to McDonald or some gelato shop near my home. The ice-cream at that gelato shop is quite pricey. Cannot expect the upmarket gelato to be cheap like $1.
